Is your driver too long for you?

Does your driver fit you?

Most golfers have a driver that is too long for them. The top club manufacturers such as, Ping, TaylorMade, Callaway, and Titleist make their drivers about 45.5 inches long, while the average driver length on the PGA Tour is 44.5 inches.

Prior to the Tournament of Champions, Titleist ambassador Jimmy Walker put a shorter and heavier shaft into his 917 head. This lead him to hit 70% of fairways; that is 20% more than his average. He was also able to maintain his 300 yard average with a shorter shaft.

A shorter length shaft will result in more consistent contact, which translates to more fairways and improved distance control.
