Taylormade’s Ultimate Driving Iron (UDI) release a couple of years ago was decent but not great. However, there is a cult following for the club. This new Taylormade P790 UDI that we have seen on the range at the WGC Bridgestone looks a bit smaller in sole width but still has a generous blade-length to increase forgiveness. This model, with its new technology and sleeker design should appeal to the masses a little bit more. Keep in mind that these irons are not usually used from the fairway but they can be. Don’t base your opinion of them on how they feel off of the mat.
Jason Day was seen hitting a P790 2-UDI and Jon Rahm was practicing with a P790 3-UDI this week.
