Dustin Johnson wins with 2018 TaylorMade M4 Driver

World No. 1 Dustin Johnson starts the new year with a win at the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions. Golf Channel analysts claimed that the reason for his dominance this week was his driver. During the third and final round, DJ drove the 12th hole which was measured at 420 yards!!! That is what you call some Straight Distance… actually that’s what TaylorMade is calling it too.

DJ was using the 2018 TaylorMade M4 driver, which will be ready to pre-order on February 1

The TaylorMade M4 will be replacing the 2017 M2 series. Being the more forgiving model, the M4 introduces us with Hammerhead technology. This feature is expected to make the off-center hits feel more solid. While Hammerhead Slot covers up the feel of a mishits, Twist Face technology will cover up where the ball ends up. TaylorMade has reinvented the “bulge and roll” that we see on driver faces today. Rather than your ball curving 8 yards to the left or right, the new M3 and M4 are supposed to minimize the offline shots to 2 yards.

The M1 and M2 line has proven distance, and now TaylorMade is increasing forgiveness. We saw what the M4 could do in DJ’s hands, now it’s only a matter of time to see if it holds true in our hands.

Dustin finally found it comfortable to use his Prototype P-730s this week. This iron is TaylorMade‘s best feeling blade yet. DJ was also using the Hi-Toe wedge in a 64 degree. The TaylorMade Spider Tour Black was also his putter of choice this week.

Congrats Dustin… on the win and the new driver!
