  • With the Masters just 30 days away I figured I would post an opinion piece, Who will win The Masters in  2017? With Dustin Johnson nearly at the top of his game, Rory seeming to find a hot streak, and a myriad of young players looking to put their name on the trophy, who’s putter has been hot enough to conquer  Augusta National and its treacherous greens. So far Jordan Spieth has the best odds (Golf magazine), but his putter seems to have drifted away recently. Hideki Matsuyama? Easily one of the best ball striker on the planet at the moment has always had difficulties […]

  • The title says it all “What’s the best driver on the market.” As a fitter I have my own opinions of what could possibly qualify as being a top-tier driver for a given year. Here are my top 3 best drivers of 2016. #3 Callaway 816 Big Bertha Double Black Diamond. #2 Ping G LS Tec #1 Taylormade M1 All three drivers are built to produce incredible distances, the Callaway falls short in the forgiveness category, which is why it’s narrowly edged out but the Ping LS Tec. Don’t see your favorite driver on the list? Let us know your […]

Troubling……….Yes, not many coming into the shop are aware that Ben Hogan has made new equipment, what the numbers on the top of the club is for, or that the forged PTx is available. These are truly something you have to feel to believe, classic Hogan feel, todays distance gains, variable shafting options, and…..and depending on what your personal ball flight preference is the set comes in 4 different loft make ups: High Launch […]

  • To some this may look like a hybrid, but in reality these are max game improvement irons. With a glance most golfers will rule them out, but these high flying soft landing are really fun clubs to hit. With distances comparable to the infamous M2 irons, Callaway really provided a nice game improvement option while still not sacrificing playability. In our testing the Big Bertha irons, even though they have a generous amount of offset, were still able to be worked Left or Right, while retaining its high shot trajectory. Hitting lower shots especially fades were an issue due to the […]

  • If you’d been around golf for awhile then you’d probably remember the old Ben Hogans, Vip’s, and Macgreggors, but what made those classic clubs feel so good when you hit them well? They were all hand worked steel, think of the ancient samurai swords of old, master sword crafters would pound steel to shape, and that’s the way our golf clubs used to be made, with precision, and by the hand of a master club builder. Now a days as our game has grown, so has the technology. From clubheads to shafts, right down to the manufacturing processes. Casting has made […]

When talking about Ultra highend golf equipment a few names come to mind, two are well know to the golf enthusiast, Miura and PXG. Epon is along the same line as the previously mentioned, High end, World class forging, Japanese precision and quality, and feel that’s right feel. Where Miura is the Soft buttery forging that we have come to appreciate and love over the years Epon is its polar opposite, hitting at Epon is like feeling the […]

  • The new Cleveland wedges are come along way from the former RTX 2.0, adding the V-Sole which was widely appreciated in the Srixon 945, 745, 545 irons made the RTX 3 a much more versatile wedge from all lies. Still being offered in 1 2 and 3 dot, which still signifies bounce, now also adds a bearing on sole depth, an interesting feature when looking at todays market wedges. In addition, the Cleveland is now offering a TOUR RAW version on the RTX3 which comes in a oiled wrapping to prevent rusting. Raw wedges are normally found in the bags […]

  • Everyone generally knows what shaft stiffness they play, whether it be XStiff, Stiff, Regular, Amateur, Ladies, ETC. But how many know the gram weighting of their shafts and why they are playing that shaft at that weight? From my own fitting experience not many know why they are playing at the weight they are. Most of the time I hear ‘I’ve only played s3oo,’ or ‘I don’t know what shaft weight I have.’ This is an issue. Shaft weight has an effect on 1. your body over the course of a round. 2. the bend profile if it is not being loaded properly. 3. […]

  • The Srixon z965, no other words to describe this beautifully engineered blade other than buttery. Simply astounding, and an improvement over the popular z945, which was widely successful, the z965 does better in what the z945 lacked. Srixon improved the look of the head by removing the somewhat awkward stripe of darker chrome and replaced it with a more hidden satin finish. Also Srixon is now producing these head at another forging house, we are not allowed to state which, but it is one of the finest on the planet, if not the finest. Srixon also added addition no upcharge […]

  • The new M2 iron from Taylormade at first glance is a game improvement club, with forgiving qualities, thick top line, large sole, and a wide cavity, but when you get under the hood and really get a chance to hit them you find out that despite the offset in the club they are surprisingly workable.  From stock draws and fades, to high and low shots everything is able to be hit, and the distance gains are there, as Taylormade have promised us every year. Beautiful at address with its stock gunmetal finish, come check them out at FairwaygolfUSA or online […]

  • Like the title says an absolute beast. Beautiful…. not so much, the new crossover from the G series comes standard with a black matte finish through the entire club, the head and shaft anyways. Hitting this is where you find the real beauty, unlike the hybrid trends with an ultra wide sole and launch help, Ping has committed the Crossover to act like a iron with a slight more forgiveness.  Striking the Crossover feels just like a 3 iron or driving iron, but much easier to hit, and like stated, not so high flying as today’s hybrids, this club is […]

Keeping with the same favorited head shape a paint job from the XR of old, the XR16 seems more refined at address, Callaway seemed to have cut away the bulky look of the XR and keep all of the performance values. A satisfying feeling at impact with the most amount of feedback given from any Callaway driver i personally have hit since the old Callaway Bertha X. All in all the XR16 […]

  • At first glance the PXG iron looks like a slightly oversized blade, but what lies beneath the face is nothing but amazing! The polymer infused forged head plays like a blade, has a trampoline effect like its metal wood counterparts, and has a sweet spot roughly the size of a tennis ball. Noticeable distance gains have been found in all who have been though the fitting process for PXG irons, as much as 15 yards, all because of the ultra thin face and polymer to support it. The screw weighting system which seems “stone age” is actually much farther advanced […]
