  • At the Dubai Desert Classic this week, Henrik Stenson made a notable change to his bag setup when he replaced the trusty Callaway Octane Tour 13 degree. He made the switch to Callaway’s new GBB Epic fairway wood because it helped him maintain better distance control and more ball speed. Give a guy like Stenson a few more mph of ball speed and watch out!

We noticed that he was still using the 2016 M2 Driver, Nike bladed irons, and of course his historic Scotty Cameron. Due to his new partnership with TaylorMade, Woods is expected to have TaylorMade driver to wedge in the near future. Here are some of the pictures that we took during the pro-am: Shop what golf equipment Tiger is playing here!

  • On New Year’s day, two-time Master’s Champion, Bubba Watson signed a contract with Volvik. After extensive product testing, Watson decided to ditch the ProV1x for the Volvik S4. Once Watson figured that the S4 was right for his game, Volvik decided to produce a pink version of the ball just for him; hopefully this option will be available to the masses in the near future. We do not know if the Bubba ball will be a glossy pink like the Volvik Crystal or more of a matte finish like the Volvik Vivid. Watson admitted to wanting to be part of […]

  • TaylorMade prototype irons are being tested this week at the RSM Classic to possibly replace the PSi and PSi Tour irons. There appear to be two models: one with a thicker sole and larger, lower muscle behind the sweet spot and then one with a thinner sole and topline as well as a badge marked “tungsten” near the toe. Tungsten is nothing new and has been used in irons for years to move the center of gravity in the clubhead. Here are a few pictures (courtesy of GolfWRX) from the RSM Classic: Thicker, game-improvement iron Thinner, player’s iron with tungsten

  • According to No Laying Up’s Chris Solomon, Rory McIlroy will be using the Taylormade M2 driver in the HSBC Champions this week in China. Here is the image posted on the @nolayingup Twitter page: Those are decent numbers…hahaha! This is HUGE news given the rumors that Tiger Woods’s new umbrella company (no pun intended, Arnie) could be buying TaylorMade. Tiger would basically then be sponsoring all the biggest hitters in the game: DJ, Jason Day, Rory, and possibly Brooks Koepka. Maybe Tony Finau too! WOW this is juicy 🙂
