South Korea

South Korea Golf Holiday – One For The Ladies!

One of the most visible things about S. Korean golf is its strength in women’s golf – 45 South Koreans play on the world’s leading women’s tour – the U.S. LPGA Tour. Now that’s a lot for a country that boasts of less than 100 golf courses, you’d say. But the quality of golf courses in South Korea is superior enough for golfers from across the globe to pack in their clubs and head to this new golf destination.

South Korea is perhaps one of the most politically dynamic countries in Asia as well as one of the most serene and beautiful. Occupying the southern half of the Korean Peninsula, South Korea is bound on the north by North Korea, by China across the Yellow Sea on the west and by Japan across the Korea Strait on the southeast. Seoul, South Korea’s capital city is one of the most densely populated areas in the world and home to some of its wonderful golf courses.

Most golf travel enthusiasts heading to South Korea land in Seoul where courses like the Namsungdae Golf Club await them. The Namsungdae golf club features an 18 – hole course located in Sangpa -gu, 30 minutes from central Seoul. Another notable course to play in the area is Taenung The Yuksa Course in located in Nowon-gu. This is an 18-hole parkland style course that is for play on all days except Monday and is located about 30 minutes north from central Seoul.

Golf travel in South Korea is usually restricted to the summer months as winters are cold and harsh. But come summers, the country becomes lush green and the golf tours start descending in earnest. Pusan, better known as Busan, is the largest port city in South Korea and attracts a lot of golf holiday makers in summers being the unofficial summer capital of the country. The city offers two courses: the Dong Nae Country Club which features an 18-hole, 6227 meters track, considered to be one of the most beautiful courses in South Korea. The other course to include in your golf package is the 18-hole Pusan Country Club in Dongnae-gu.

If you want to pack in a lot of courses on your golf vacation to South Korea, try the Gyeonggi region which is has the highest concentration of golf courses in the country at 34 tracks in all. Include in your golf package courses like: Ahn Sung Country Club, Asiana Golf Club, Blue Heron Golf Club and the Gold Golf Club. Other notable courses to play in this region are: The Dong Seoul Golf Club, Hanseong Country Club and the Lake Hills Country Club.

There is more golf to be played before your golf tour can call it a day. Route your golf travel to the Jeju Province for courses like Chungmun Beach Golf Club, which features two beautiful courses – 18-hole Halla Course facing Mount Hallasan and the 18-hole Sea Side course. In the Gyeongsang region try courses like Bomun Country Club and The Bugok Golf Course. Also include in your golf tour the beautiful Mauna Ocean Golf Club and The Gaya Golf Course in Gimhae.
