Five Iron Sets To Consider For 2009
by Mo Golf
I’m Mo’ Golf, new equipment and apparel guru for FairwayGolf.Com. I’ll be reviewing the bats you use to whack the ball, the bags that carry them, and the attire you wear on the links. This column is devoted to the great transition of the better player from pure muscleback iron to a cavity back players club. I fouund five iron sets you should consider for 2009. I had a chance to beat them all at the Buffalo-Niagara golf show today. Up front, I would put any one of the five in my bag tomorrow. Here goes:

Let’s be honest…with the amount of Research and Development money that went into all these sets of irons, with the techonological advances from within and without the golf club industry, do you think that any of these top-tier companies are going to make a stinker? Of course not. The good news for you, the average golfer, is that I found all five clubs to be excellent. If I hit a shot thin, I knew it. The knock against forgiveness clubs in the past was that they were too forgiving and dampened feedback. No longer. If I hit a club on the toe, no resultant shock rattled my teeth. I was impressed with all four companies (I say four as Cleveland and Srixon are both owned by a parent company.)
It will come down to availability, looks and price for you. I cannot guarantee that your results will match mine, nor would I ever want to. However, I think that I can put my deal seal on these five sets of irons. They ease the transition from less-forgiving players iron to more-forgiving cavity back.

Great reviews. I especially like the Cleveland CG7’s, it’s about time Cleveland put some r&d in their irons again. After the TA7’s, they’ve been quiet.
Mizuno looks stellar as usual.
