Christy O’Connor Jnr

Christy O’Connor Jnr (born 19 August 1948) is an Irish golfer. He is known as “Junior” because he is the nephew of another leading Irish golfer Christy O’Connor.

O’Connor was born in Galway. He turned professional in 1967. The European Tour officially began in 1972, and O’Connor made the top hundred on the Order of Merit in each of its first twenty-one seasons, with a best ranking of seventh in 1975. He won four European Tour events. As a senior he has competed on both the European Seniors Tour and the U.S. based Champions Tour, and has won two Senior British Open titles (before it became one of the senior majors) and two Champions Tour events.

O’Connor played in the Ryder Cup twice. In 1975 he was a member of a losing Great Britain & Ireland team and in 1989 he was part of a European team which tied match the match to retain the trophy. His personal record was one win, three loses and no ties. His win over Fred Couples was best remembered for a stunning 2 iron shot on the last hole at the Belfry which he left just 4 feet from the hole.

O’Connor is also active in golf course design.

Eamonn Darcy

Eamonn Darcy (born 7 August 1952 in Delgany, County Wicklow) is one of the most successful golfers produced by the Republic of Ireland.

Darcy turned professional in 1968 and played on the European Tour from 1972, winning four European Tour tournaments. His best years were 1975, when he came third on the Order of Merit, and 1976, when he improved to second. While he did not fully live up to this early promise, and did not compete on a level with the “Big 5″ of European golf who emerged around this time (Ballesteros, Faldo, Langer, Lyle and Woosnam) he went on to enjoy a long career. He finished in the top 20 on the Order of Merit nine times in total and made the top 100 as late as 1999, when he was 47. In 2002 he joined the European Seniors Tour.
