  • As the defending champion of the Australian Open, Jordan Spieth’s appearance fee was larger than the whole tournament’s purse. Just for showing up to the event, Spieth was granted $1,000,000. While all the other players in the field, including Jason Day, were playing for a fraction of $943,624.93 USD. On the par-71 course, Spieth’s rounds were 70 – 71 – 70 – 67 placing him five strokes behind the winner (8th), Cameron Davis.
