  • Winning this week along side his partner Sean O’Hair, Steve Stricker is known for his putting stroke, and no wrist swing. A few years back, Tiger Woods was seen getting a lesson from Stricker on the practice green. When the clutchest putter asks someone from advice, that says a lot. Something to note about Steve’s putting game is that he has great tempo. His preshot routine is consistent, and his stroke is “one… two… go…”. Another thing to look at is how Steve has the heel of the putter above the ground. He taps the toe of his putter twice […]

They come in black or red just like the TaylorMade Spider Tour does. Odyssey’s VP has already admitted to copying the looks of the Spider Tour. This 7S shape is the one that everyone is craving. • Odyssey has decided to further it’s O-Works line with the microhinge inserts to include a few classic shapes in new colors. The black and red heads have been requested by tour players for a while but they all want the new O-Works microhinge insert in the head. The insert improves putting performance by flexing on impact and reducing backspin. This reduces skidding and bouncing of the golf ball initially after impact which helps the ball hold true to the starting line and allows for more consistent distance control. O-Works Black shapes: #2W, #3T, #1, 330M, #2M CS, #7S O-Works Red shapes: 2-Ball, […]

It’s the one club that is used every single hole, unless of course you hit a superb iron shot. The saying “drive for show, and putt for doe” is true. If you don’t have a quality putter, it is going to be difficult to play great. The best putter brand out there is Scotty Cameron, made by Titleist. Any Scotty Cameron putter is great. The name Scotty Cameron alone is a turn-on to any golfer. […]

  • PXG just released  a new putter shape. Sorry blade-lovers, it’s mallet. The new shape can be closely related to the Odyssey O-Works Tank. With two weighted wings its MOI is comparable to the TaylorMade Spider Tour. The tungsten wings are adjustable, and give players the option to play the Bat Attack at 350-, 375-, or 400- grams. The Bat Attack uses a double-bend shaft that promotes half a shaft of offset. This also means that the Bat Attack is designed for golfers with a straight-back-straight-through stroke. The insert on the Bat Attack delivers consistency across the face, so that off-centered hits […]

  • O WHAT?!?! O- WORKS!!! Odyssey has released their new line of putters for 2017 called the O-Works line, but the technology has been used for awhile by many of Callaway’s tour staff. Phil has been a fan of the technology for several months, and if a short game master like himself favors the O-Works technology, you might too!!! So what makes the O-Works line different from all of its competitors? At first glance the insert looks like it has small magnets sitting on the face; almost like a Bettinardi putter. Those metal dot looking things are actually hinges. What better […]

  • When you think of a quality putter most people think of Scotty Cameron putters. Golfers choose Scotty Cameron putters for their soft-milled faces, which is why they sell for $350+. But what if I told you there was a cheaper alternative to a soft-milled face? Cue dramatic music. Cleveland Golf has released a series of putters that they call the Huntington Beach Collection, and they only cost $99.99. They are soft and milled just like a Scotty Cameron; they even have the same designs.     The only difference I can really tell between the two is how heavy the […]

  • With putters, we often talk about face-balanced, toe weighted to express how the putter head would likely to move during your putter stroke. Last year, Bryson DeChambeau won the NCAA Division I Championship and the golf industry saw a unique set make up in his bag. DeChambeau had all his irons and wedges at the same length (length of a #7 iron) so he just needs work on one swing to accommodate all his irons and wedges (obviously the lofts were adjusted to produce consistent yardage gap). I also noticed that his putter was unique too.  His Edel putter is […]

Ernie slammed his putt on the 18th green into the back of the cup for birdie. He knew that birdie was his only chance to maybe get into a playoff for the Claret Jug. Adam Scott on the other hand, was timid with his putter all day. He left many of his birdie opportunities short. And when the putter could have clenched the win […]
