  • I have never seen a tour player go through so many company changes so rapidly. Rory Mcilroy turned pro in 2007, and debuted on the PGA Tour in 2008. When he was first on tour he was playing with Titleist, driver to putter (Scotty Cameron). At this point in his career, his putting skills were being compared to the one and only Tiger Woods. With a Scotty Cameron 009, Rory was shaking things up on the PGA Tour. Why would he change a thing? In 2013, Mcilroy signed a deal with the big swoosh, Nike. This forced him to make […]

  • Unhappy with his ballflight in the wind, Rory went searching for something better. He came upon Taylormade’s new TP5X ball and LOVED IT! After speaking with other tour pros with the TP5X in play, and extensive testing with clubs from different manufacturers, Rory decided that the Taylormade clubs worked best with the Taylormade ball. The most exciting are probably the “RORS PROTO” muscleback 5-9 irons that were made for the 4-time major champion. He is still not sure which clubs will be in his bag for this week’s tournament so he has 18 in there for now. I’m sure J.P. […]

  • Who says golf is a safe sport?  Now Rory Mcilroy is out for presumably a month due to a fractured rib. Today’s Tour Players put a lot of effort and hard work to try to win or keep winning.  I personally think that it is what they do off the course that is amazing in order to prepare for the events. Rory has not posted anything on his website: http://www.rorymcilroy.com/ But he would have to skip most likely his next 2 events: HSBC and Dubai Classi Would he come back in time for the Genesis Open (formerly Nissan Open Riviera […]

  • According to No Laying Up’s Chris Solomon, Rory McIlroy will be using the Taylormade M2 driver in the HSBC Champions this week in China. Here is the image posted on the @nolayingup Twitter page: Those are decent numbers…hahaha! This is HUGE news given the rumors that Tiger Woods’s new umbrella company (no pun intended, Arnie) could be buying TaylorMade. Tiger would basically then be sponsoring all the biggest hitters in the game: DJ, Jason Day, Rory, and possibly Brooks Koepka. Maybe Tony Finau too! WOW this is juicy 🙂

  • Here at Fairway Golf, we educate our customers during fittings concerning adding loft and removing loft the adjustable drivers. With the newer technology, you can easily remove or add loft as needed. Well, how does this affect the Face Angle? Recently, Golfweek release a video discussing Rory’s decision to add loft to his driver. This closed the face angle slightly, allowing him to draw the ball more effectively. The video does a great job explaining the affect on face angle. Please email any questions to support@fairwaygolf.com

  • It is official: the latest trend on the PGA Tour is high-top golf shoes. Rory McIlroy is gaming the new Nike Flyknit Chukka at the Northern Trust L.A. Open. This comes right on the heels (pun intended) of the media craze around Rickie Fowler’s Puma high-tops and joggers. Fashion is now hitting the PGA Tour in a new way. We are now seeing some players transition from athletic golf wear to more casual outerwear. What do you think about the new trend? Will you be buying a new set of high-tops or chukkas?

  • Just days after his Masters Sunday collapse, Rory McIlroy has showed his impressive bounce-back ability at the weather-delayed Malaysia Open. The 21-year-old from Northern Ireland shot 69-64 to share the lead at the halfway mark with Alexander Noren. In my opinion this is a true testament to Mcilroy. People thought he was too young and didn’t have enough experience to be a contender. HOWEVER, all doubts are going away, he is for real.

McIlroy the hype is real, he’s back and he wasn’t even gone.
